Riffe Lake and Mossyrock Dam

Formed by Mossyrock Dam, the tallest dam in Washington State, Riffe Lake stretches for more than 20 miles through rolling, forested hillsides along the White Pass Scenic Byway. This long, scenic reservoir is a favorite destination for boating, fishing, paddling, and lakeside relaxation, offering plenty of room to explore and unwind.

At the west end of the lake, Mossyrock Park provides camping, boat launches, picnic areas, and day-use facilities, making it a popular base for families and water enthusiasts. On the east end, Taidnapam Park offers additional access, camping options, and shoreline recreation. Together, these parks make Riffe Lake well-equipped for extended stays or easy day trips.

For a closer look at the impressive engineering behind the lake, visitors can stop at the North Shore Fishing Access along the highway near the west end for views of the dam itself. Just nearby, the Riffe Lake Overlook offers sweeping vistas of the lake and surrounding landscape—perfect for photos and a scenic pause along the byway.
