ASHFORD, Wash. – Stevens Canyon Road will remain closed between Bench and Snow Lake trailhead and the Grove of the Patriarchs trailhead through the July 4th holiday weekend. There is no access to Box Canyon from either direction during this time. This closure applies to motorized vehicle, bicycle, and foot traffic. Please check the road status page on the park’s website before planning a visit to the park.

To access Ohanapecosh and White River from the west, visitors should drive to Elbe and go south on State Route 7 towards Morton, then east on US 12 towards Packwood, and north on State Route 123. From Enumclaw, take State Route 410 east towards Chinook Pass, then go
south on State Route 123.

Oversized vehicles and travel trailers are not advised to drive beyond Inspiration Point (approximately 0.5 mile east on Stevens Canyon Road beyond the junction of Stevens Canyon Road and Paradise Road) due to the winding and narrow road. There is no turn around for large
vehicles at Bench and Snow Lake trailhead. No restrooms are available at Bench and Snow Lakes trailhead.

Restrooms are available at the Grove of the Patriarchs trailhead parking area. The Grove of the Patriarchs Trail is closed at the junction of the Eastside Trail and the Grove of the Patriarchs Trail due to significant damage sustained to the suspension bridge during an extreme flooding
event in November 2021. Silver Falls and the Eastside Trail are accessible from the Grove of the Patriarchs trailhead and are good hiking alternatives to the Grove of the Patriarchs Trail.

State Route 410 and State Route 123 are both open. The Paradise area is fully accessible to vehicles, however, trails are snow-covered. The Paradise Visitor Center is open daily from 10:30 am-5 pm.

For updates on current conditions, check the park’s website, Facebook page or Twitter feed.

For information of low elevation trails suitable for hiking, please visit the trail status webpage.
